An oldie but a goodie, I LOVE this book. You will find great reviews on it wherever you look. It is full of wonderful insight and lots of practical suggestions to apply to all kinds of kiddo scenarios.

This is another gem, but a little more updated than Adele Faber’s book (and written by her daughter!) Filled with helpful tools in communication, this book tackles real issues with real solutions.

The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind

By Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson

Take a peek into the inner-workings of your child’s brain with this best seller. Still as full of practical suggestions as other parenting books, this will also give you an excellent perspective into how important parent engagement is in helping your children grow in emotional intelligence and as they mature and develop.

Stranger Danger - How to Talk to Kids About Strangers

by Kristi Porter

A great resource, this book gives helpful advice on how to talk with kids ages 3-8 about strangers. Much more than a “don’t” book, it helps parents approach a vague concept with practical advice.

Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids: How to Stop Yelling and Start Connecting

by Dr. Laura Markham

This book is a super helpful resource, and is a great keep-handy-on-the-shelf-guide. It is a 'big picture' book and helps parents to assess their emotions, too, as they deal with highly charged situations with children.
